Vera, a jobless Romanian in her 40s, has to transfer Kali, a young Nigerian girl, from one city to another: from one city to another across sun-scorched Sardinia: a seemingly simple task turns into the journey of a lifetime.

Mario Piredda’s new film is a road movie that tells the story of two foreign women transcending borders and prejudices, with the irony that a cruel  fate deserves, to bring the most authentic Sardinia to international screens.

but what does it mean?

From the Late Latin and ecclesiastical term blastimare, derived from the Greek “βλασφημεῖν” (“to speak ill” or “to say offensive things”), and from the Spanish lastima, meaning pity. All the nuances it takes on in the Sardinian language stem from this layered etymology.
